The Story of Ransiya Ceylon Cinnamon
From Zero to One: The Ransiya Cinnamon Journey
The Finest Cinnamon Grown in Paradise
🌍 Why This Story Matters
Most cinnamon brands begin at the market.
Ransiya began at the land — and with the people who work it.
This is not a story written after success.
It is a documented journey built on patience, discipline, Good Agricultural Practices, and meaningful rural employment.
At Ransiya, “The Finest Cinnamon Grown in Paradise” is not a marketing phrase.
It is a responsibility — to the land, the plant, and the people whose lives grow alongside the estate.
Phase 1: Zero
The Decision to Begin
Every meaningful journey starts with a decision.
Before a single product was sold, before any revenue existed, Ransiya began with a clear belief:
True quality cannot be purchased — it must be grown correctly.
Land was prepared with long-term soil health in mind.
Planting layouts, spacing, and nutrient planning were designed according to Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), not shortcuts.
There was no harvest.
There was no income.
Only preparation, discipline, and conviction.
This was zero.
📍 Choosing the Land: Warakagoda, Mathugama
Ransiya Estate is located in Warakagoda, Mathugama – Western Province, Sri Lanka, a region with a tropical climate, high rainfall, and fertile soils well suited for cultivating true Ceylon cinnamon (Cinnamomum verum).
Warm temperatures, natural humidity, and well-distributed rainfall allow cinnamon plants to grow slowly and naturally — supporting soft bark formation, refined aroma, and delicate sweetness.
Choosing the right land was our first quality decision.
👩🌾👨🌾 People at the Heart of Ransiya Estate
Ransiya Estate is built not only on soil and climate, but on people.
From the earliest stages of land clearing to planting and daily field maintenance, the estate has created steady job opportunities for village workers from the surrounding community. These opportunities allow families to earn reliable income close to home, strengthening both livelihoods and local stability.
By providing consistent employment, Ransiya contributes to:
Improved household income for village families
Greater financial security through regular work
Skill development in sustainable cinnamon cultivation
Reduced need for rural-to-urban migration
Improved quality of life through dignified agricultural employment
The growth of the estate is directly connected to the growth of the people who work on it.
As Ransiya develops, so do local livelihoods and living standards.
Phase 2
From Idea to Reality — Planting Day (24 May 2024)
On 24 May 2024, the Ransiya journey moved from planning to action.
Cinnamon plants were established through coordinated effort between careful field planning and village labour, following Good Agricultural Practices, including:
Recommended plant spacing for airflow and healthy growth
Careful land preparation to protect soil structure
Balanced nutrient application based on crop stage
Proper handling of healthy planting material
This was not planting for speed.
It was planting with care, responsibility, and shared effort.
This was the moment zero became one.
Phase 3
Growth with Good Agricultural Practices (2024–2026)
This phase defines the foundation of Ransiya.
Ceylon cinnamon cannot be rushed.
Growth during this period is guided strictly by Good Agricultural Practices, supported by continuous field work carried out by trained village labour.
Daily and seasonal activities focus on:
Soil fertility management and nutrient balance
Timely weeding and field maintenance
Monitoring plant health and structural development
Maintaining field records and observing growth stages
Minimizing stress on plants through disciplined care
Quality is not created at harvest.
It is built quietly, day by day, in the field.
Phase 4
Building the Brand While the Field Grows
While the cinnamon plants mature, Ransiya grows as a brand.
This phase focuses on:
Establishing an estate-based, traceable identity
Documenting cultivation practices and timelines
Developing export-ready product concepts
Communicating transparency and origin to buyers
The strength of the Ransiya brand is rooted in what happens on the estate every day — through honest work, responsible practices, and long-term thinking.
Phase 5
One to Many — Harvest and Beyond (2026 →)
By the end of 2026, Ransiya will enter its first major harvest phase.
But the goal has never been to sell cinnamon as a commodity.
The vision is to offer:
Estate-grown cinnamon
GAP-cultivated raw material
Transparent labour and cultivation practices
A premium Sri Lankan cinnamon identity rooted in origin
From one estate to global markets — without compromising principles.
🧠 Our Zero-to-One Philosophy
Ransiya does not compete on price or volume.
Instead, we focus on:
Origin over sourcing
GAP over shortcuts
People alongside land
Long-term value over short-term gain
This is how authentic agricultural brands are built.
